The Aboadze Community Health Screening is a preventive health intervention organized by Otoo Foundation in response to the rising number of deaths in Aboadze and its environs — particularly from stroke, a silent non-communicable disease often linked to unmanaged hypertension.

Recognizing the urgent need for early detection and public awareness, Otoo Foundation conducted a free, comprehensive medical screening exercise for residents of Aboadze, a coastal town in the Western Region of Ghana.

The outreach included:

  • Blood pressure checks

  • Stroke risk assessment

  • Eye examinations

  • Ear screenings

  • General medical consultations

  • Health education on lifestyle-related diseases

Through this initiative, community members received free medical evaluation, professional guidance, and education on preventing hypertension, stroke, and other health conditions. The program empowered residents to understand their health status and take proactive steps toward healthier living.

Our Main Goals

  • Respond to the rise in stroke and hypertension-related deaths in Aboadze and nearby communities.

  • Promote early detection of non-communicable diseases through comprehensive screening.

  • Provide eye, ear, and general health checks to improve overall community wellness.

  • Educate residents on stroke prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, and regular medical check-ups.

  • Strengthen access to preventive healthcare services in underserved coastal areas.
